My name is Geo. I’m a culture-obsessed, content executive, hybrid creative, brand storyteller, comms specialist, and idea maker based in NYC with 20 years of diverse industry, culture marketing & leadership experience.

I’ve worked as a Head of Content, VP of Social, Creative Director, Marketing + Communications specialist, Music/Hip-Hop Journalist, Editor-In-Chief, and Senior Copywriter. Some companies I’ve worked for: Vayner Media, Complex Networks, Red Bull, and WPP’s luxury agency, Hudson Rouge.

I currently work for Areya Media as the Director of Special Projects for Okayplayer and OkayAfrica.

100 FACES of LINCOLN

For the 100 Year Anniversary of the car company, Lincoln, I served as Creative Director for an award-winning year-long campaign that featured 100 diverse and dynamic influencers.

 
 

MAN WITH MACHINE: LINCOLN X KARRIEM RIGGINS

During my time at Hudson Rouge, I worked with highly respected musician and instrumentalist Karriem Riggins on a social-first spot that showed how deep Lincoln’s automobile culture is intertwined with the Detroit music scene.

During my time as VP of Social + Editorial at Hudson Rouge, I ideated and executed social video content with Lincoln celebrity spokesperson, Serena Williams.


HEAD OF NEWSLETTERS + SPECIAL PROJECTS

In my current role as Head of Newsletters and Special Projects for OkayMedia, I supervised and executed multichannel branded content campaigns for hit Broadway shows MJ the Musical and Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen.

VAYNER MEDIA: COPY + IDEATION FOR TEXT ADS

At my recent stint at Vayner Media, I crafted the copy and contributed to the art direction for a series of text/SMS banner ads for ONE37pm.

Editor-In-Chief for OkayAfrica + OkayPlayer

I led all facets of editorial, social, sponsored content, brand partnerships, and experiential activations. I ideated and launched a video series called “Respect the Architect” to pay homage to iconic producers for the 50th Anniversary Hip-Hop celebrations.

VAYNER MEDIA: SENIOR COPYWRITER

In 2015, I worked at Vayner Media for the launch of a new beverage, MIXXTAIL. Specific tasks I worked on included: copy and ideation for social and video promo assets, and a MIXXTAIL event at SXSW.

O.N.S CREATIVE LAB: IDEATION + EXECUTION

From 2015-2019, I worked for the NYC/Hong Kong lifestyle brand, O.N.S. I created an ongoing streetwear collab campaign called The Creative Lab. I sought out and executed capsules with talented NYC designers like Death to Tennis, Kenneth Ning, Abasi Rosborough, and Mike Perry.

DIGITAL NOMAD COLLAB WITH ABASI ROSBOROUGH

I sourced the designing talent and planned the launch, marketing, and rollout for a streetwear collab drop that sold very well and secured several press hits in notable style publications.

 
 

PAC-MAN X ROCAWEAR TOUR ACTIVATION + COLLAB APPAREL

In 2010, I connected NAMCO BANDAI and ROCAWEAR for a mini Jay-Z tour and apparel collab deal to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the iconic video game, PAC-MAN.


 

COMPLEX NETWORKS: CONTENT LEAD

Flexed my long-form writing skill for a new launch on Complex SHOP featuring NYC artist Lucien Smith. Not only is he a fully accomplished artist, but he also started a non-profit called Serving The People that supports and guides the careers of emerging global creatives.


ONE37PM: VP of CONTENT

From the end of 2019 thru 2020, I was the VP of all content for ONE37pm, a new media, lifestyle, and entrepreneurship publication founded by Gary Vaynerchuk.

I secured a slew of top talent features for the media brand including: Westside Gunn, Bobbito & Stretch, Kareem Biggs Burke, and more.

O.N.S BRIEF: A NEWSPRNT PUBLICATION

CONCEPT IDEATION + EXECUTION

I served as Creative Director, Editor, Publisher, and staff writer for a bi-annual NWSPRNT publication for the brand, O.N.S. The talent I singlehandedly secured for the publication included: Sunni Colon, Yoshi Flower, Mick Jenkins, Kirk Knight, etc.


 

STELLA ARTOIS: Social Media Copy

During my senior copywriter stint at Vayner Media, I also worked on social copy for Stella Artois.

Editor-In-Chief - YRB MAGAZINE

From 2006-2009, I was the Editorial Director of YRB Magazine in SoHo, NYC. During my tenure, I executed covers with NAS, N.E.R.D, Common, Lenny Kravitz, Lupe Fiasco, and many more.
